The transmission of the virus can occur by being in close proximity to an infected person and also through indirect contact with surfaces in the immediate environment of an infected person. TraceTogether and SafeEntry work in tandem to support contact tracing, both these systems are being used to make contact tracing faster and more accurate.
TraceTogether deals with the close proximity aspect of how the virus is transmitted. Many visitors may enter a venue during the same period of time, and TraceTogether helps to flag the users who were in close proximity with the index case as those who with a higher risk of being infected. It also covers interactions in open spaces/outdoors where SafeEntry doesn’t have coverage.
SafeEntry deals with how the virus can be transmitted through surfaces. It helps to establish specific times of entry and exit in enclosed venues for all visitors, including those without smartphones, such as the elderly — they can scan their NRIC instead of a QR code.
